Company History
Edgewater Appraisal began its service to the residential lending community in 1991, as a new branch of Budget Real Estate Appraisers, in Mount Vernon, Washington. Two appraisers opened that branch that centered in Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties in northwest Washington State. In 1993, the parent Budget Appraisers sought to change its corporate direction into mortgage lending and Richard Storgaard acquired the branch, relocated to Whatcom County, and incorporated under Edgewater Appraisal, Inc. Our present service area concentrates on Whatcom and Skagit counties. Richard Storgaard, a certified residential real estate appraiser, continues as it's owner and president. Edgewater Appraisal, Inc. is a member of the Multiple Listing Service and Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce.
Dick Storgaard is a Washington State native, graduate of Washington Military Academy, and retired in 1992, at the rank of Colonel from the US Air Force. He owns Edgewater Appraisal, Inc.
Prior to his Air Force retirement, Dick Storgaard entered real estate as a "next career". That led quickly into the appraisal field, and that, along with managing the business, has remained his continuous occupation since. He is a member of the Appraisal Institute and the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. He is also a Life Member of the Air Force Association, the Reserve Officers Association and the Semiahmoo Yacht Club.

Dan Storgaard joined the firm in 1999 and quickly completed the requirements to become a Washington State Certified Residential Appraiser. Born and raised in Milwaukie, Oregon, desires for a career in real estate became evident in high school. Dan was fueling his passion for custom cars when he began his real estate education in 1994 at the young age of 21. Though the journey seemed long at the time, a steadfast conviction for a career change led to his moving north to work for, and be mentored by, his uncle.
Dan is currently a Candidate Member of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. He and his wife, Heidi, are both currently active in ministry at Christ the King Community Church in Bellingham, Washington.
